October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Several fashion companies and labels in October sponsor breast cancer-related events and fundraisers and even release special products in the shade of pink that represents the month. Red Daisy, a luxury activewear brand founded by Phylise Sands, is making the fight against breast cancer its mission every day.
Sands founded Red Daisy in 2005 after both her mother and her sister were diagnosed with breast cancer. After she received the news, she decided to put her energy into a new activewear label that donates to breast cancer research and encourages women to check themselves regularly for signs of breast cancer.
The new activewear label is comprised of sports bras, workout tights, tops, and capris all crafted with Lycra spandex and compression fabrics. The sports bras are a central focus for the brand due to its connection to breast cancer. As a member of the Survivors Circle in affiliation with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Red Daisy donates $5 to the BCRF for every bra sold. In addition, each product comes with a Check Myself Charm to promote self-checks.
Sands launched a Kickstarter campaign for the new label, which raised almost half of its $10,000 goal. Though production on the line is ready, the label launched the campaign to guarantee production minimums.
Customers that pledge to the campaign will be added to the brand’s VIP list and could earn free merchandise, charm bracelets, yoga mats and bags depending on how much money is pledged.
