Amazon announced on Thursday plans to open its eighth Texas fulfillment center at Coppell. The new center will join locations in Dallas, Fort Worth, Schertz, Haslet, Coppell and two upcoming facilities in Houston and San Marcos that are currently under construction.

The one-million-square-foot Coppell fulfillment center will be the second Amazon fulfillment center to open in the city. Employees will pick, pack and ship larger customer items such as big screen televisions, kayaks, and patio furniture.

Adding hundreds of new, full-time jobs to the more than 1,000 they already provide is a demonstration of their commitment to the city,” said Coppell Mayor Karen Hunt. “Not only has their presence been a significant economic driver for our community, they have been a consistent and reliable community partner. The city and I are looking forward to our continued relationship with Amazon as we continue to grow together.”

Full-time fulfillment center employees will receive competitive hourly wages and a comprehensive benefits package, including healthcare, 401(k) and company stock awards.
