American Giant launches women's line

San Francisco, CA-based American Giant has launched a new women's apparel collection, departing from its heritage of perfect tees and hoodies.

The new women's line is unique to American Giant, which formerly only offered unisex or menswear adaptations for women. In November, when the brand first debuted $69 leggings, it saw consumers responding so favorably that the leggings became the second-best all-time selling item, behind the hoody, the clothing item that had initially first garnered attention for the brand when it entered the market.

American Giant is offering dresses in 3 silhouettes: a tank dress, a tee dress, and a maxi dress. The fabric for the dresses is the same proprietary blend that the brand uses for its t-shirts. It is a cotton slub blend that took a year to develop and it is shrink and wrinkle-resistant.

The dresses are offered in basic black and a handful of limited-edition colors. American Giant is also now offering a flared cropped pant that joins the legging in the women's collection.

In keeping with the brand's mission, all offerings are made in America and have lifetime warranties. The new women's collection is available online. Price points span from $49-$69.
