Montreal-based jewellery brand Anne-Marie Chagnon Jewellery has opened its first international store front, choosing Tokyo as its home.

The 300-square-foot Daikanyama store opened earlier this year in the heart of the trendy Shibuya district and will help to further serve Chagnon’s clients in Japan.

“The opening […] signifies us delivering on a promise to our Japanese customers to invest in them as they have in us,” said Chagnon, in a news statement.

The company currently makes over 60 percent of its revenue outside its home province of Quebec.

“I am proud to be amongst those few to prove that Canadian design has no limits, and to offer hope and courage to other entrepreneurs that they too can become truly international without compromising their personal values,” added Chagnon.

Chagnon’s jewellery collections have been available in Japan since 2012, as well as internationally for several years. Chagnon has always chosen to distribute her collections only via fellow small-to-medium enterprises or independent retailers, museums, and even art galleries.

“By sticking to a business model that favours independent retailers and stockists over big chains we have generated a loyal following amongst local and international jewellery connoisseurs alike.”

Chagnon has previously collaborated with the Cirque du Soleil, and was also selected by Iris Apfel to be included in the collection of artwork sold at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem.

Most recently, the Canadian jewellery designer launched her new Fall/Winter 2018-2019 collection. True to the season’s trends, the collection includes jewellery pieces for layering and pays homage to the 80s and Far Western influences.

The company launched a new visual identity in December 2015, after over 20 years of business. Today, Chagnon’s designs can be found in over 600 sales outlets in North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Russia.
