Australia's Manning Cartell inks Barneys NY deal for first US foray

High-end label Manning Cartell has been picked up by Barneys New York, marking the womenswear brand's US retail debut.

Under a two-year distribution deal, the Australian label will be sold in seven locations across the US including the Madison Avenue and Chelsea flagships in New York, Beverly Hills and The Grove in Los Angeles, Chicago, Las Vegas and Philadelphia. As part of the deal, the brand will also be sold through the Barneys online store.

“Our partnership with Barneys New York is very much a part of our larger story,” said co-founder and designer, Gabrielle Manning, who formed Manning Cartell with her sisters, Cheryl and Vanessa Manning, in 2005.

“The US has been a focus for us the past year and we are delighted to have signed this exclusive deal with the United States leading luxury department store.”

Barneys New York fashion director Marina Larroude said the luxury department store was excited to welcome the brand into the US market and be an exclusive partner, adding the brand's style sits well with their clientele.

"The collection is feminine yet sophisticated with an ease that our customers will respond well to," said Larroude.

"The brand has a strong following in its native Australia and we cannot wait to introduce the collection stateside."

Manning Cartell will launch its spring summer '17 collection with Barneys New York this coming August.
