Barneys New York on Friday announced the release of its collaboration with Amsterdam-based footwear brand, Filling Pieces. The five sneaker capsule collection is the latest in Barneys’ Sole Series, Exclusively Ours XO collaboration, which has also included Adidas and Vans.
The collection features three sneaker styles, two of which have two colorways and one is for women. The first men’s style is a leather sneaker with a stamped camouflage pattern that is available in red and black. The second style is a black-and-red micro quilted goatskin sneaker that Chris Pepe, Barneys senior buyer of men’s footwear and creator of BNY Sole Series, says, “…looks like it’s a wiry basket weave of sorts, but the quilting is actually stitched down a bit.” The women’s sneaker is a mid-top height sneaker with a line-textured upper available in black and white.
Pepe said, “Amsterdam has always had an underground streetwear movement, but lately there are several uniquely creative brands and concepts coming out of the Netherlands. Filling Pieces does a great job sourcing new and unique materials, which is something I really appreciate.”
Guillaume Philibert founded Filling Pieces in 2009 when he realized there was lack of reasonably priced high-quality sneakers. The line consists of a variety of unique and contemporary sneaker models handmade in Portugal using Italian leather.
The Filling Pieces collection for Barneys’ Sole Series, Exclusively Ours XO project, is available exclusively at Barneys New York.
