Beauty notes from Paris Men's Fashion Week

The Fall 2018 menswear ready-to-wear shows moved into Paris this week, and, as usual, the French capital had a plethora of striking and offbeat beauty looks to offer.

US designer Rick Owens took an assertive approach to the season that was reflected in the hair and makeup as well as in the fashion collection. The deconstructed pieces were mirrored by a distinctive beauty style that saw the models' faces and heads dusted with pale foundation, before hair pieces were attached at jaunty angles.

Japanese streetwear label Facetasm was another brand getting creative with grooming, sending models down the catwalk sporting expressive, sculptural hairstyles or string masks in red and black that partially obscured their faces.

Meanwhile at Louis Vuitton the look was poker straight and gelled-up, with models sporting extreme side parts and shiny, combed locks. Yohji Yamamoto also advocated the sweeping side part, pairing the look with voluminous, flowing shapes on one side of the head for contrast.

Valentino, on the other hand, embraced the curlier side of life, with the models sporting luscious corkscrew spirals for a dash of joie de vivre.
