Beek x Vitamin A sandal collection launches

Vitamin A and Beek's Resort 2018 footwear collaboration has launched with three handmade styles made of vegetable-tanned leather that are inspired by the ease and simplicity of beach lifestyle and Southern California.

The three styles include a classic flip flop, a slide, and a lace-up sandal. Leather colors for the Mockingbird slide are natural, black and white, while the Seabird flip flop comes in black, bronze and natural, and the lace-up Bluebird sandal is offered in black and tan with metallic accents.

The shoes are made in Mexico and focus on both brands' goals of quality, simplicity and fit.

When asked about the inspiration for the collaboration in an interview on Vitamin A's blog, Beek founders Birgit Klett and Kenna Florie said that both of the brands' "customers are classically beautiful in their styling. They love quality goods with an effortless style."

"Collaborating with other women is... Smart. Because when we put our minds, talents and passions together then you can create something amazing," they added, commenting on the benefits of collaborating with another female-driven brand. 

Vitamin A is a sustainable brand founded in 2000 by California native Amahlia Stevens. Its product line of swimwear, coverups and accessories uses its signature EcoLux fabric made of recycled nylon.

Beek was founded as an elevated sandal company five years ago by Klett and Florie, two former Roxy employees who became close through working for Quiksilver events.

The Beek x Vitamin A collection ranges in price point from $140 for the flip flops to $160 for the lace-up sandal and is already available for purchase.
