Odell Beckham Jr. is trying his hand at fashion in partnership with Bloomingdale’s. The New York Giants wide receiver who is known for his one-handed catches on field and his dance moves off of the field will launch his new 13 x twenty line at Bloomingdale’s this September.
The collection, which is created by Twenty Tees and LaPina founder David Helwani, is an athleisure menswear line comprised of t-shirts, hoodies, sweatpants, knitwear and jackets. 13 x twenty received its name from Odell's jersey number, 13, and the brand name Twenty. The new line is priced in the premium range with t-shirts retailing for $85 and outerwear reaching as high as $595.
The media reported that Odell was hesitant to create a collection. His venture into fashion seems like a page out of the book of his New York Giants teammate, Victor Cruz. The Super Bowl winning wide receiver salsa danced his way into the hearts of New Yorkers and football fans alike and quickly made himself a darling at New York Fashion Week. Cruz has modeled for Kith (he’s good friends with Kith founder Ronnie Fieg) and Givenchy, and last year, he launched a collaboration with denim brand 3x1.
Odell may have been inspired by Cruz to venture into fashion, but he cites his meeting with Helwani through Bloomingdale’s as what inspired him to create a collection. According to the press, Helwani and Bloomingdale’s Kevin Harter visited Beckham at his home in New Jersey to pitch the collection. With the new line launching in September, it’s safe to say that the discussions between the three went well.
13 x twenty will be available at Bloomingdale’s stores and online in early September.
