Premium menswear designer Brett Johnson opened on Thursday its first retail store in New York City at 109 Mercer Street in SoHo.
The 2,800-square-foot flagship store opens four years after the luxury label’s launch and houses the Brett Johnson fall 2017 collection that debuted at NYFW: Men’s in February.
"We are thrilled to have found precisely the right location,” said Johnson. “Mercer Street has everything I was looking for aesthetically—visibility, foot traffic, and even the charm of the cobblestone streets has the right feel for the brand. We chose SoHo because we have a number of e-commerce customers in the area. It just made sense."
Johnson tapped Sarah Mullins and Pamela Levine to design 1,600 square feet of the store’s selling space. The interior features the brand’s signature muted colors in brown and grey, Baja Dunes-colored walls, and unique pieces such as black walnut credenzas that are designed by Johnson himself and James Opdahl that will be available for custom order.
Hailing from Virginia, Johnson launched his namesake label in 2013, offering luxury men’s apparel and footwear produced in Italy. The CFDA designer’s affinity for menswear began with a pair of Nike Air Force Ones, which he customized with cobblers in New York City for a unique look, and later he began selling his own footwear.
While the fall 2017 collection reaches as high as $4,000 for a custom suit, the Brett Johnson furniture collection ranges from $18,000 to $35,000.
