Arctic luxury outerwear brand Canada Goose's President and CEO Dani Reiss has been named a Member of the Order of Canada, one of the country's highest civilian orders.

His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, awarded Reiss the honour for "building an iconic brand that is a model of entrepreneurial success and for his commitment to the preservation of Canada’s North, notably as chair of Polar Bears International."

The Order of Canada recognizes outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation, and was established in 1967 by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

“Being a champion for Canada and Canada’s North – both at home and abroad – has been my privilege for the last 20 years. It’s an honour to be in the company of such an extraordinary group of Canadians. For me this isn’t just about recognition of past achievements, but is something to continue to live up to for the rest of my life,” said Reiss.

Reiss established the Canada Goose Resource Centre Program to honour Northern communities and celebrate traditional skills and craftsmanship of the North in 2009, and is also Chairman of non-profit organization Polar Bears International. The organization is dedicated to the worldwide conservation of the polar bear habitat.

“Congratulations to Dani on this well-deserved honour. The motto for the Order of Canada is ‘They desire a better country’ for which Dani’s passion is contagious. From his work to support the communities and environment of the North to his success in building a company that exports the brand of Canada around the world, he’s a true ambassador for this country,” said Geoff Green, C.M., Founder and President of Students on Ice.
