Spring has sprung in New York City. Residents are more prepared for ‘April Showers’ than winter weather despite an ironic Sunday evening snowfall on the first day of spring. The cold weather trend continues with reports of Canada Goose opening its first store in New York City.

The American press has reported that the Toronto-based company will open its first-ever New York City store on 101 Wooster Street in SoHo. The 4,000-square-foot space is located near Chanel and Tiffany, and used to be occupied by outdoor apparel favorite Patagonia, which has moved to 72 Greene Street.

Though the Canadian brand is popular for its very warm coats and parkas, it does offer lightweight shell jackets, vests and anoraks in the spring.

Founded in 1957, Canada Goose is a manufacturer for cold weather outerwear. The company was founded as Metro Sportswear Ltd. before taking the name Canada Goose in the 1990s. Canada Goose products are a favorite among researchers and workers in remote, cold-weather regions, and the company supplies parkas for participants in the United States Antarctic Program (USAP).
