Canadian Arts & Fashion Awards reveal nominees

The Canadian Arts & Fashion Awards (CAFA) last week announced its 2016 nominees. The annual awards show which was created to celebrate outstanding achievement and emerging talent in the Canadian fashion industry, will take place this year on Friday, April 15.
The nominees include many notable Canadian designers. Among them, acclaimed designer Jason Wu will square off against Tanya Taylor and Thomas Tait for the International Canadian Designer of the Year Award.
The designers from Greta Constantine, LINE Knitwear and Pink Tartan will be up against Lucian Matis, for the The Womenswear Designer of the Year Award, while Menswear designer of the year nominees Christopher Bates, Frank and Oak and Wings + Horns will cross their fingers for a win.
In the accessories category we find Alan Anderson, Dean Davidson, Jenny Bird and Want Les Essentiels.
Among emerging talent in the Canadian landscape; 3.Paradis, Beaufille, Matthew Gallagher, Unttld, Arc Jewellery, Daniel Christian Tang, Lauren Klassen, Sully Wong, were nominated for The Swarovski Award for Emerging Talent in the fashion and accessories category.
The third annual red carpet event also welcomes four new self- and peer-nominated award categories including: Fresh Face of the Year Award, honouring a new Canadian model who is a rising talent; Fashion Design Student Award, given to a recent graduate from a Canadian fashion design program; Fashion Impact Award, which recognizes a Canadian designer or brand that has made a significant impact on the community; and the Fashion Innovation Award, which will highlight a designer who uses technology to innovate their wares.
