Christian Siriano, Joseph Abboud among AAFA’s 2016 American Image Awards Honorees

The American Apparel & Footwear Association last week named the honorees of its 38th Annual American Image Awards that will be held in New York City on May 24.
 
The American Image Awards honors those who have exemplified leadership, excellence, and outstanding achievement in the apparel and footwear industry, including education, design, manufacturing and retail. For the second consecutive year, the ceremony will benefit Mercy Ships, a global organization committed to providing the world’s impoverished with free basic healthcare and medical surgeries.

“Every year, the apparel and footwear industry eagerly waits for the American Image Awards as a time to celebrate true innovation and leadership,” said Rick Helfenbein, AAFA president and CEO. “This year’s honorees epitomize the best of the industry from design through creativity, to business and marketing achievements. We’re so proud to recognize their successful contributions.”
 
This year’s honorees include BBC International LLC, Shinola Detroit, Christian Siriano, Iris Apfel and Joseph Abboud.

Footwear giant, BBC International is to be honored with the Company of the Year Award, Shinola is named Retailer of the Year, Christian Siriano won Designer of the Year, Iris Apfel is named Fashion Maverick and Joseph Abboud will take home the Person of the Year Award.
 
The American Image Awards will be held on May 24, 2016 and will be hosted by InStyle Magazine founding editor, Hal Rubenstein.
