Christopher Kane collection sees new accessories sent into space

Christopher Kane has become the latest fashion designer to adopt the 'see-now-buy-now' trend sweeping the industry -- but with an intergalactic slant.

The Scottish creative showcased his new Autumn/Winter 2017 ready-to-wear show at London Fashion Week on February 20, with the 'Space' accessories collection launching commercially directly after the show.

However, it wasn't the first time that the pieces in question -- a safety buckle "Devine" bag that comes with its own anorak and a "High-Top" sneaker in six different colorways -- had been out of the factory. In fact, Kane physically sent them in to space last week to mark the launch of the collection.

The brand has revealed that on February 6 the products were launched into space in Derbyshire, UK. They landed three hours later, having reached an altitude of up to 38km above the Earth and having sustained pressure close to 0% of that at sea level and temperatures of minus 64 degrees Celsius.

Kane is known for his strongly themed, meticulously researched and highly technical collections. Recent shows have drawn inspiration from cop shows, the pansy, and "lost-and-found" objects.

The 'Space' collection is now available in-store and at christopherkane.com, as well as at select retailers including Selfridges, Style.com, Shinsegae, The Webster, Unger and Tasoni.
