Founded in 1980 by the Dalmau brothers, Custo Barcelona’s unique mix of graphics and use of colours have won the brand an iconic style and worldwide recognition. Today, Custo Barcelona consists of 3,000 points of sale in 40 countries across the continents, with 15 stores in the US alone. In 2009, 20% of the company's total turnover (84 million euros) came from US sales, placing the American market second only to Spain (30%).

Custo Barcelona is now in the middle of an expansion phase in different markets, focusing specially in the US, Latin America, Asia and the Middle East. The brand has just hosted a fashion show in Dubai in order to celebrate its multiple store openings scheduled for next year in the Arab States.

The beginning of next year should also see the opening of its third store in New York. Currently present on 145 Spring Street and 474 Broome Street, Custo Barcelona has chosen Columbus Avenue as the location for the new store The brothers were the first Spanish designers ever to take part in the New York Fashion Week and their collections have been present at the event every season since 1997.

Custo Barcelona has recently added several pieces to its clothing line, where skirts, trousers, coats and its famous t-shirts now form a complete collection. For the SS 09 Season, Custo Barcelona created a whole swimwear range in collaboration with Italian company Fuzzi. This collection will be sold at all the Custo Barcelona stores, together with other products such as fragrances, eyewear (both sunglasses and sight glasses) and footwear for men and women.

With the world of fashion constantly evolving and new markets emerging, Custo Barcelona aims to keep developing new stores in cities and markets considered strategic. Europe is also a key point in the brand’s expansion, with a first store opening in England being part of its near future plans. So far, other openings scheduled for this end of year are in Caracas (Venezuela) and Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic). In 2011, Custo Barcelona will open stores in Oporto (Portugal) and Zurich (Switwerland), while towards the Middle East, another 4 will be inaugurated in Al Khobar (Saudi Arabia), Dubai, Abu Dhabi (UAE), and Cairo, (Egypt) respectively.
