In 2014, Decathlon Group, formerly known Oxylane but renamed for clarity, posted a turnover of 8.2 billion euros before tax, up 10.6% compared to 2013. On a comparable basis, Decathlon’s sports stores progressed by 6%.

The group didn’t publish further information regarding its figures, but Bertrand Gobin, the independent journalist behind the blog Mulliez and the book La Face cachée de l’empire Mulliez (The Dark Side of the Mulliez Empire), Decathlon’s net income was around 5% of its sales.

Decathlon is now present in 21 countries with 884 stores, having opened 103 new locations over the course of the year, including its first in Croatia. In France, which makes up 39.5% of Decathlon’s revenues, the company has 288 stores (three openings in 2014).

With 128 stores (13 openings in 2014), Spain is Decathlon’s second largest market in terms of store numbers. It’s worth noting that in India, Decathlon has 20 stores, while in China, a market where Decathlon harbors significant ambitions, it has 115.
