Both domestic and foreign players in the denim sector have said that the denim sector in Bangladesh is growing fast and has huge prospect as famous global brands and retailers are becoming interested in the Bangladeshi denim products due to competitive pricing.

‘Bangladesh’s denim sector is growing fast and responses from the global buyers have increased,’ said Steven Kruit, General Manager of Triton Textile, a Hong Kong-based company told the New Age daily.

Buyers from 40 countries including US, UK, China, Netherlands, France, Italy, Spain, Australia, Germany, Japan and Russia also visited the expo.

“This is the second time we are taking part in denim expo in Bangladesh as we have received enquiries from a good number of buyers and readymade garment manufacturers from Bangladesh,” said Alisha Upra, executive of Absolute Denim of Thailand.

She said Absolute Denim produced fabric and supplied to many global buyers like Inditex.

Kury Dogu, account manager of Denimer of Turkey, said Bangladesh is becoming an important sourcing hub for denim products.

Shasha Denims Ltd Assistant General Manager Kazi Obaidur Rahman said Bangladesh denim sector is being benefited from such show in terms of quality and design as manufacturers from many countries showcase their products in the event.

He said, ‘Shasha Denims produces 200 million yard of fabric a month and supplies to more than 20 global brands like H&M, Inditex, Zara, Next and Marks & Spencer.’

Bangladesh Denim Expo CEO Mostafiz Uddin said that the expo achieved its goal of linking expectations with possibilities.
