Denim Première Vision returns to Paris

Published
Jul 26, 2016

Paris returns as the official host for the next edition of Denim Première Vision. The trade show, which for the last two and half years has brought together global denim specialists to Barcelona's Fira Montjuic, is now returning to the French capital. It was in Paris that the trade show made its debut in 2007.

According to management, the surprise return, considering the upcoming edition was already announced for Barcelona, is a "matter of opportunity".

"Paris is the fashion capital of the world, and with that comes cultural and inspirational influences for our exhibitors and the brands which visit the trade show," explained Chantal Malingrey, the trade show director, in a statement.

"It's an easy hub to access from other major cities in world and is able to host a large number of visitors. So of the options we had in mind, when one of them was released in Paris – at the Paris Event Center, a new and relatively untapped place, 15 days ahead of our scheduled dates – in agreement with the market, we seized the opportunity."

For its Paris return, Denim Première Vision will open in a new space, located in La Villette, which has already housed runway shows Kenzo, Lanvin and Thom Browne. The trade show is also changing its dates and will take place November 2 and 3 in line with the spring-summer 2018 collections.

"The growth of mid-season collections and the increase of seasonal development ranges around brands’ main collections have changed the timing of design and product development," explained the director.

"The fine tuning, the research of materials, and of production is more sophisticated and requires an earlier start to the creative process. These earlier dates correspond to an adjustment in relation to the market’s realities."

With the slogan 'Tomorrow is calling', organisers hope to develop new experiences by bringing in new elements for the denim experts.

The trade show is scheduled for three Paris editions so far. After the November edition, another two will take place April 25-26, and then November 8-9, 2017.
