Destination XL launches first mobile app

Destination XL on Thursday launched its first mobile app, made in partnership with PredictSpring.

The new app is designed to help on-the-go and in-store shoppers with features such as a loyalty program, store locator, product search, and rewards programs.
 

 
The app could also be part of the retailer’s focus on “customer acquisition and retention,” which President and CEO David Levin said is top priority for the retailer for fiscal 2017.

“DXL stores have everything available under one roof to make guys look and feel great,” said Sahal Laher, Chief Digital Officer and CIO of Destination XL Group, Inc. “Now... we are able to deliver the products consumers want, when and where they want it, while also creating an enhanced in-store experience.”
 
The plus-size men’s retailer launches the app just days after retail analytics firm Edited released a report that found that the men’s plus size market is stagnant. While the women’s plus-size market has thrived over the years, with niche brands and juggernauts expanding its product sizing or introducing plus-size collections, the plus-size men’s market has decreased 54%.

Destination XL’s app could spark interest in the men’s plus-size market, especially considering that 60% of online shoppers use their phone to shop.
 
The new Destination XL app is available now on Apple’s App Store and the Google Play store.
