Diana Ross launches debut fragrance

Diana Ross has channelled her star power into a debut fragrance for the shopping platform HSN.

Named ‘Diamond Diana', the eau de parfum features top notes of crisp greens, mandarin orange, bergamot, lemon and apricot, with a spicier middle including jasmine, sandalwood and black rose. Cedarwood, amber, musk, incense, vanilla and vetiver make up the base notes for a scent described by HSN as "soulful and sophisticated."

"This personal fragrance is inspired by the powerful connection between music and sensual memories," the singer, who was presented with a lifetime achievement award at the American Music Awards earlier this month, told WWD.

The perfume comes in a striking clear glass bottle, faceted to resemble a diamond and act as a prism of light, which sits inside a black velvet reusable jewelry box. It is available on www.hsn.com, priced at $95, with Ross set to make a live appearance on the brand's TV, mobile and online platforms on December 5 to publicize the launch.

The surprise beauty launch coincides with the release of the illustrious singer's new album "Diamond Diana: the Legacy Collection," which dropped on November 17 and features 15 of the most famous tracks to have marked her career.

Ross is the latest of several stars to put her name to a fragrance. This November saw reality TV actress and beauty entrepreneur Kim Kardashian launch a sellout debut perfume trio under her brand-new ‘KKW Fragrance' brand, while actress and popstar Ariana Grande released her fourth scent, ‘Moonlight', earlier this year.
