Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana are regulars at La Scala, and now they have been officially designated as founders-patrons (Fondatori Sostenitori) of Milan's renowned opera house. They stated in a press release that this is their way of crowning "their passionate love for Italian culture and opera."

According to the statutes of the legendary Milanese opera house, in order to become Fondatori Sostenitori of La Scala it is necessary to donate €600,000 in less than five years.

The designers explained how the choice of becoming founders-patrons of La Scala is "the natural evolution of a long and well-established relationship, a gesture of love and gratitude towards an institution which symbolizes Italian culture the world over."

Dolce & Gabbana are the first and so far only designers who have managed to organise a show inside the prestigious opera house, when they presented their haute couture collection in January 2015.
