Dubai Modest Fashion Week hails successful first edition

Following on from previous editions in Istanbul and London, Dubai hosted its first Modest Fashion Week from 8-9 December, bringing together established and emerging designers from over 20 countries.

The two-day event, held at the city’s famous Burk Park, had a strong programme of activities including 40 fashion shows and a series of workshops, talks and fashion and art exhibitions.

100 celebrities and influencers attended the events, from H.E Sheikha Hend Faisal Al Qassemi, Arab superstars Diana Haddad and Hisham El Hajj to Bollywood actress Gauahar Khan.

Hosted for the first time in Dubai, Modest Fashion Week staged catwalk shows by the likes of Rasit Bagzibagli, Muslima Wear, Selma Sari, Safiya Abdallah of Dulce by Safiya, Zaskia Sungkar, Norma Hauri, Ria Miranda and ETU and Annah Hariri.

There were also international designers participating in the event, including Huw Roman Tokyo from Japan, Fllumae from the US, Mizaan from Germany, Yours Truly from Canada and Sumayya & SSS from Indonesia.

And luxury modest fashion e-commerce site The Modist held an awards ceremony for the winners of the Emerging Modest Fashion Designer Awards.

Dubai Modest Fashion Week was organised by Think Fashion and Red Connect, in partnership with Emaar, Modanisa, MBM International, Dubai Culture, Dubai Islamic Economy and Development Centre and Rewaq Ousha Bint Hussein-Cultural Center, to name a few.
