E-commerce platform BigCommerce enables sales for merchants

Shopping on Instagram may get easier due to e-commerce platform BigCommerce. The company announced this week support to enable sales through Instagram.

Instagram in 2017 added a shopping tag feature, which allowed brands to tag individual products with shopping information for in-app shopping. BigCommerce merchants are among the first to have access to shopping on Instagram through iOS and Android.
“As content and commerce become more intertwined, our mission is to provide merchants all the tools required to effectively sell to customers in all the places they choose to shop,” said Russell Klein, SVP of Corporate Development at BigCommerce.

“Thousands of BigCommerce merchants have grown their brands on Instagram, and it’s clear from the extraordinary results we’ve already seen that these new features represent a significant step forward for merchants, consumers and the promise of social commerce.”
Through the new integration, merchants can tag products in Instagram posts and make contextual information like pricing and product descriptions instantly accessible. Merchants also have access to stats that show how many fans interacted with product details or clicked “shop now.”
