E-commerce sales account for $70 billion in Latin America

E-commerce sales reach $70 billion a year in Latin America, according to data from the Latin American Institute of Electronic Commerce (eInstituto).

Online sales are projected to grow to $100 billion by 2018, with growth driven by the continent’s largest economies. Currently Brazil holds 42% of the total share, followed by Argentina (12%), Mexico (18%), Chile (9%) and Colombia (5%).

The data adds to the recently released report by Vente-privee, which states that fashion retailers should look at e-commerce to expand their business, as the sector grows by 24%.
