Specialty retailer Eastbay launched on Tuesday its new mobile application for iOS and Android. The new app works in conjunction with Eastbay’s long-running catalog by providing a new way to interact with the brand.
The main draw of the Eastbay app is the “Eastbay Lens,” the company’s first use of image recognition and augmented reality. Users can scan physical pages of the Eastbay catalog to reveal exclusive videos, stories, products and more.
"We know our consumers rely heavily on their phones, both for shopping and staying connected," said Bob Stephan, vice president for marketing at Eastbay. "We're excited to reach them in a new and meaningful way by bringing the Eastbay experience full circle. In the process, we're expanding the heritage of the Eastbay catalog and reaching a larger audience than ever before."
The Eastbay App also offers shop functionality where users can buy products directly, a release calendar to keep up with new product launches and order tracking. Users will also have direct access to Eastbay’s social media platforms and can request the retailer’s catalog.
Founded in 1980, Eastbay became a part of the Foot Locker brand portfolio in 1997. The specialty retailer’s catalog is very popular among young athletes and sneaker connoisseurs, and its new app adds a new dimension to online presence.
