Estee Lauder announces global brand leadership changes

Published
May 23, 2017

Estee Lauder's Aveda, Bobbi Brown, La Mer and Bumble and Bumble brands are all undergoing key leadership changes that will begin taking shape later this summer.

Estée Lauder

Aveda's Global Brand President Dominique Conseil announced his plans to retire after being with the company for 17 years and becoming the first Global Brand President. Barbara De Laere, Aveda's current Senior Vice President and Global General Manager of Aveda will succeed Conseil.

De Laere brings over 16 years of experience from running L'Oreal's hair and skincare strategies. She joined Aveda last year.

Bobbi Brown and Bumble and Bumble Global Brand President Peter Lichtenthal has also announced his plans to retire. Lichtenthal has been with Estee Lauder for 28 years and worked in senior leadership roles for MAC, Smashbox and Estee Lauder.

Lichtenthal will be succeeded by Zach Rieken who will continue as Senior Vice President and Global General Manager of Bumble and Bumble. Lichtenthal's retirement will take effect in January 2018. He has agreed to stay on for special projects for a smooth transition.

Bobbi Brown brand will be led by Sandra Main who has been with Estee Lauder for 20 years. Main will add Bobbi Brown to her existing portfolio leading La Mer which she has done since 2009.

Main's previous role at La Mer will be filled in by Justin Boxford who has been appointed as the new SVP and Global GM. Boxford will also join the Executive Leadership Team and report to Main.

Fabrizio Freda, President and Chief Executive Officer said, “Today’s announcement reflects the Company’s thoughtful succession planning philosophy... The success of our people is a cornerstone of our long-term strategy.”

Aveda, Bobbi Brown, La Mer and Bumble and Bumble are all part of the group led by Jane Hertzmark Hudis, Group President. The leadership changes will be effective July 1, 2017.
