Eurofragrance, the Spanish company specialized in designing and manufacturing perfumes, has named Laurent Mercier as its new CEO. Mercier, who joins the group's board of directors, succeeds Santiago Sabatés, one of Eurofragrance's founders, who had been in the role since the group was created in 1990. Following this announcement, Sabatés will step into a new role as Eurofragrance's president, representing the group at executive committees.

Among his new functions, Mercier will be in charge of leading the company's 2020 strategic plan, which aims to stimulate the group's growth and profitability.

Mercier, who joined the Eurofragrance group in 2013 as director of global activities, tasked with putting in place the Spanish company's diversification strategy and geographical expansion, began his career at Procter & Gamble before joining the Swiss group Givaudan as marketing manager in 1992. In 2001 he joined Firmenich, where he stayed for eight years.

Eurofragrance is currently present in some sixty countries and operates through subsidiaries in Turkey, Mexico, Dubai and Singapore. In 2016, the group reported a turnover of 68.8 million euros, a 9% rise compared to the previous year.
