The American retailer, which first set eyes on Canada in 2012 and officially made its debut in 2014, will open its first discount Rack store north of Toronto at Vaughan Mills mall.

Part of the company’s off-price division, the 35,000-square-foot store promises to offer customers a selection of apparel, accessories and shoes at 30 to 70 percent off regular prices.

Nordstrom Rack’s Canadian division is expected to differ from its American counterpart with 30 percent of its merchandise coming from its full-line Nordstrom stores, compared to 15 percent in the U.S. Items are also expected to be organized by size, rather than by brand or product category, according to the Canadian Press.

While Nordstrom completed its full-line expansion plan of six stores in Canada in the fall, the retailer has expressed interest in opening up to 15 Nordstrom Rack locations in the coming years.

Five other Nordstrom Rack openings are already planned in Deerfoot Meadows in Calgary on April 26, 2018; One Bloor in Toronto on May 3, 2018; and three stores in fall 2018 at The Ottawa Train Yards in Ottawa, South Edmonton Common in Edmonton, and Heartfeld Town Centre in Mississauga.

On Tuesday, Nordstrom also announced that its special committee, appointed by the board, officially ended buyout talks with the luxury department store's founding Nordstrom family.

Experts are now predicting the company will push to go public.
