Fred Perry Holdings acquires Lavenham

Published

Collection Lavenham AW13/14

Fred Perry and Lavenham: both brands stemming from British heritage and both born from sports lines. Fred Perry made a name for himself in tennis, while Lavenham made a mark on the equestrian world.

Lavenham’s fashion potential certainly struck chords with management at Fred Perry Holdings who have announced a deal to acquire the British brand, which was originally founded in 1969. Traditionally an equestrian equipment specialist, Lavenham has also managed to create a strong fashion identity based on riding-inspired pieces, like its popular quilted jackets.

Over the past few years Lavenham has upped its presence in fashion world thanks to collaboration with brands such as Edwin, Norse Project and Hackett. The British brand not only relies on strong designs but also puts a strong emphasis the use of British materials in the manufacturing of its garments.

Fred Perry Holdings holds the rights to the Fred Perry brand as well as the company Fred Perry Limited which ensures the distribution of the brand in various markets. Since 1995, Fred Perry Holdings has been under the control of Japanese group HitUnion Co Ltd, which helped get the brand back on track after a difficult period in the 70’s and 80’s. We will have to wait and see what is in store for Lavenham…
