The American group announced that it has signed agreements to open Old Navy stores in six Middle Eastern countries with franchisees Fawaz A. Alhokair & Co. and Azadea beginning in spring 2015.

The first markets include the U.A.E., Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Currently recording the best growth in the group, Old Navy will thus be joining a zone where Gap and Banana Republic have been present since 2007.

It will be the second branching out on an international level via the Old Navy franchise, after the deployment of the chain's first stores in the Philippines. A low-price brand aimed at families, Old Navy is distributed via a network principally deployed across the United States and Canada, but also in Japan and China.

"Taking into account the local culture, which is very family-oriented, we think that the American clothes emblematic of Old Navy, focused on family, fashion and quality, are really going to resound with customers," said Robert Franck, Executive Vice President of Old Navy International.

For the group's 2013 financial year, Old Navy posted an increase there where Gap was stagnating and Banana Republic was declining. A trend subsequently confirmed, pushing Gap Inc. to focus its attentions on the brand, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.
