Glossier adds 300 jobs with the help of the NYC government

Glossier is poised for yet another expansion, announcing today that it has been awarded $3 million dollars in performance-based tax credits from the Empire State Development department. This will allow Glossier to create just under 300 new jobs in its brand new headquarters.

"Our investments in promising, innovative companies support job growth, drive innovation, and cement New York's international reputation as a vibrant and diverse hub of economic excitement.This major expansion will create nearly 300 new jobs and demonstrates the success of our strategies to help businesses flourish in this state's 21st-century economy,” said Governor Cuomo in a press release.

The Empire State Development released a press statement on Thursday, announcing that the $3 million will encourage Glossier to expand in New York. This support will allow Glossier to open a new headquarters at One SoHo Square, creating 282 jobs in the process.

Glossier has had an exciting past year. While to date, Glossier has only been available for purchase in the United States, the brand is on the verge of its first international launch in the United Kingdom

New York City has been pushing to support the fashion industry. In late, March, the New York City Economic Development Corporation announced that it is putting $51.2 million dollars towards building up the city’s garment manufacturing industry. In February, New York announced its support of a grand new “Made in NY” hub for the garment industry in Brooklyn’s sunset park, a project that is costing the city $136 million.
