Gosha Rubchinskiy launches collection with Adidas Football

The Moscow-bred designer has launched yet another collaboration for the season, this time with Adidas Football. A total surprise, the collection was unveiled on Thursday at the designer's Fall/Winter 2017 show in his native Kaliningrad, Russia. 

Although unconfirmed by either Rubchinskiy or Adidas, the fashion press has reported that the collection will span more than one release, with plans to bring out three collections leading up to the Adidas-sponsored World Cup in Russia in 2018. Adidas is also the sponsor of the Russian national football team and Kaliningrad currently figures on the list of host cities for the international sports event. 

This Adidas collab launch came just days after Rubchinskiy released the pre-orders for his collaboration with another athletic giant, FILAS.

Included in the collaboration will be a selection of apparel, including football-inspired coach's jackets and tracksuits, as well as two new sneaker silhouettes.

Rubchinskiy’s Kaliningrad showing was an unusual move for the designer. For years, the Moscow-born-and-bred talent has opted to show in Paris, with the exception of last season, where he presented at Pitti Uomo as a guest designer. Just a week ago the streetwear wunderkind announced that he would be stepping away from Paris Fashion Week to move to his to his homeland, an odd move considering the majority of the industry would be at Pitti Uomo during Rubchinskiy’s show.
