Interparfums predicts strong 2017, nine-month sales up 18%

For the third quarter 2017, Interparfums group said it recorded revenues of 117 million euros, up 5%, compared to the same period last year. Given the positive quarterly result, the French fragrance and perfume maker (whose licensees include Montblanc, Jimmy Choo, Lanvin and Coach) reported an 18.8% increase in revenues for the first nine months, reaching 324 million euros.

The sales jump is partly due to Jimmy Choo's strong performance, which brought in 78.6 million euros in sales, up 24%. Revenues were also bolstered by Lanvin's return to glory, after a year of "difficulty in certain markets." Perfume sales for the French house rose 14%, totalling 47 millions euros, thanks to the release of its Modern Princess line.

Montblanc remained at the head of the Interparfum fold and consolidated its lead position with revenues of 88.8 million euros, an increase of 5%. Special mention goes to Coach, which posted sales of 31.5 million euros. That makes it  Interparfums' fourth best-performing brand, even though the licence was only acquired in 2015 and marketed for just three months in 2016.

Looking forward, Interparfums said revenues should sit between 400 and 405 million euros for the full-year fiscal 2017, compared to 365.6 million euros in 2016, an increase of approximately 9 or 10%.
