J.C. Penney implements Apple pay nationwide

As customer experience continues to become the top concern for many retailers, J. C. Penney has implemented the Apple Pay mobile payment option (supported by all iPhone 6, iPhone 7 and 7 Plus devices) at all of its stores nationwide.

Along with all Apple Pay-supported credit and bank cards, the struggling department store’s own credit card will be accessible via Apple Pay, thus making it easier for customers to accumulate purchase points earned through the J.C. Penney Rewards program.

"We're always looking for new ways to leverage innovative technology solutions to deliver convenient and secure mobile payments for our retail partners," said Carol Juel, executive vice president and chief information officer at Synchrony Financial, in a recent J.C. Penney company release.

Apple Pay does not store customer credit card numbers on Apple servers. Rather, each purchase is approved with a one-time exclusive security code. Apple Pay account numbers are encrypted and stored on the user's iPhone.
