Jil Sander announced Tuesday, April 29 the arrival of Rodolfo Paglialunga as its new creative director. The Italian is already at work on his first show: a women’s spring/summer 2015 collection. He is now to lead the brand’s in-house studio, whose work had met with a good deal of critical success following the departure (the third in her career) of the eponymous founder Jil Sander.

The new face of Jil Sander started out his career at Romeo Gigli in the early 90’s. He subsequently joined Prada, where he stayed for more than 10 years, in time becoming design director of womenswear. In early 2009, he left Prada to become creative director at Vionnet.

"I have boundless admiration for the brand as I strongly believe in its pure vision and values,” remarked Paglialunga. “My aim is to carry forward the fusion between sophistication, luxury and innovation and bring the house to the next level.”

"We have found the a great talent that, with his personality and design skill, will be able to raise our design excellence to new heights,” said Alessandro Cremonesi, CEO of Jil Sander which employed Raf Simons - today Dior’s artistic director for haute couture and ready-to-wear - between 2005 and 2012.

Owned by the Japanese company Onward, Jil Sander currently has 59 stores worldwide .
