John Galliano: two stores to open in Paris soon

Published
Mar 8, 2016

This is a new stage in John Galliano's relaunch. Last Sunday the brand showed in Paris and has returned to advertising with a campaign starring Christy Turlington. And now the ready-to-wear label, currently designed by Bill Gaytten, a former assistant of John Galliano, and owned by Christian Dior Couture (LVMH), is about to open two stores in Paris.

The first is none other than John Galliano's historic boutique, located at 386 rue Saint-Honoré, which was closed in order to be fully renovated. It will re-open at the end of March, unveiling an entirely new store concept designed by Franklin Azzi in collaboration with Franck Durand, who has been called upon to redefine the brand's visual identity.

"We needed a store concept, because we are looking at a few investment projects abroad," the brand's Managing Director, Dominique de Longevialle, told FashionMag.

The same concept will be featured in the new John Galliano store which will open next July in the Marais district, its premises extending over 120 m² at 30 rue des Archives.

From the outside, a sort of wooden envelope will be visible, "something of an allusion to Victorian architecture, though preserving the classic Parisian design style." Inside, a second façade will be created using a series of screens, in order to mark the space like in a renovated London flat.

"It was important to create an intimate ambience, not necessarily visible from the outside," stated the architect in a press release.
