Johnny Weir announces skincare line

Olympic figure skater and entertainment personality Johnny Weir has announced he will collaborate with LA-based Japanese mineral water-infused skincare line Onsen Secret for an upcoming collection.

Onsen's mission is "to put the ancient healing powers of the Onsen Japanese Hot Springs in the palm of your hands," using mineral waters in its creams and serums for both men's and women's products.

Onsen currently hosts a page on its website that outlines Johnny Weir's favorites. The four piece men's anti-aging assortment includes aftershave, daily lotion, eye treatment and a revitalizing face serum. The products are organic, paraben free and not animal tested.

Weir made the announcement of his own line through a video he posted on his Facebook. While sitting in a bathtub, he told his fans that in addition to his interest in Japan he is passionate about skincare. His upcoming branded collaboration with Onsen combines two of his passions. Weir said in his video that he wanted a bigger role in skincare. He tells fans, "Next week I'm going to go to LA to meet with [Onsen's] scientists in their laboratory. I'm going to go through their creams and I'm going to start preparing for my own line."

The product development cycle for Weir's launch will be interactive. He will take his fans through the journey and they will be able to offer input about what is most important to them in a skincare line. Fans will be able to interact and give feedback both on Weir and Onsen's Facebook pages.

In addition to the men's collection, Onsen offers a five piece women's line that Weir also endorses. The women's collection focuses on collagen boosting products. The current women's Onsen in line collections retail for a promotional price of approximately $200, the same price as the four piece men's collection.
