Kaia Gerber fronts Chanel's latest handbag campaign

The French luxury label has signed up rising runway star Kaia Gerber -- Cindy Crawford's daughter -- to show off its new handbag collections. The 16-year-old American model is photographed with various iconic Chanel bags, from the "11.12" and the "Boy Chanel" to the "Gabrielle."

After walking the Chanel runway several times (spring 2018 Haute Couture, Métiers d'Art, Spring/Summer 2018 ready-to-wear), Kaia Gerber joins rank with the label's other muses with her first advertising campaign for the brand.

Chanel creative director and legendary designer Karl Lagerfeld shot the campaign images in a highly symbolic setting. Indeed, the campaign features Kaia Gerber lounging in Coco Chanel's apartment, more precisely, on the French fashion designer's plush suede sofa -- a couch seen many times in photos of Gabrielle Chanel, posing with models or friends and family.

For 2018, Cindy Crawford's daughter is snapped -- sitting or reclined -- on this history-steeped couch. The model showcases the brand's iconic bags, including the "11.12" in embroidered tweed and multicolored transparent PVC, the "Gabrielle" and "Boy Chanel," as well as a vanity case and camera case.

After making her runway debut in September, Kaia Gerber has quickly become a rising star of the fashion world, enlisted by a host of designers worldwide. Her rise seems set to continue in coming seasons, with the model already stacking up a variety of advertising contracts.

Kaia Gerber is also likely to star in the upcoming Chanel Fall/Winter 2018-2019 fashion show, held March 6 in Paris.
