Kering among the top 100 most eco-sustainable companies

Published
Jan 22, 2016

According to the highly respected Canadian magazine Corporate Knights, a recognised benchmark in the field of social responsibility, Kering is included among the 100 most exemplary corporations for sustainable development listed in the magazine's 'Global 100' 2016 index.

Kering

It is the first time that Kering is listed in the index, which is led by BMW this year. It is also the first time that a luxury goods group is included among the top 100 companies, with the corporate galaxy chaired by François-Henri Pinault listed in 43rd place. But Kering is in second place in the ranking for the textile, apparel and luxury goods sector, after Adidas, which is 5th in the overall top 100.

The index is based on an evaluation of the sustainable development performance for the year 2015, when Kering notably published its first environmental profit and loss account at group level.

The performance rating is based on the evaluation of a dozen key indicators, both qualitative and quantitative, including carbon efficiency, innovation, the number of women in top management and the link between executive remuneration and the company's sustainable development objectives, Kering has stated in a press release.

The 'Global 100' 2016 index was calculated starting from a list of 4,353 companies, altogether accounting for a stock market capitalisation of over $2 billion.

Kering also finished among the 'industry leaders' in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) for the World and Europe 2015, reaching the top spot in the textile apparel and luxury goods sector for the second year in succession.
