Kering appoints Alain Riguidel president of North American luxury watch division

Alain Riguidel was appointed president of Kering Luxury Watch, North America on May 1. As president, Riguidel will be responsible for managing Ulysse Nardin Inc. and Tradema of America Inc., and in charge of all activities for Ulysse Nardin and Girard-Perregaux in North America.

Riguidel joins Kering at a pivotal time in the luxury watch industry. With the onset of smart watches, traditional luxury watches face increasing competition. However, several brands, including Bulgari, Tag Heuer and Breitling, have introduced smart luxury watches, creating a niche for those who seek both luxury and technology in their timepieces.

His most recent role was as the regional brand director of Piaget Latin America and the Caribbean, based in Miami, Florida. Prior to that, Riguidel was with with Richemont for 18 years in management positions in Europe, South America, and the Middle East.
