L’Oréal Paris: Cyril Chapuy steps down as President

After six years at the head of L'Oréal Paris, Cyril Chapuy is stepping down. He will be replaced by Pierre-Emmanuel Angeloglou, who was General Manager of the L'Oréal group's Consumer Products Division North Asia. However, Cyril Chapuy will not leave the French cosmetics giant. As a spokesperson indicated to Fashion Network, confirming information reported by WWD, Chapuy will be taking on new functions within the group, the details of which have not yet been disclosed.

Cyril Chapuy spent his entire career at L'Oréal. He joined the group in 1995 and he worked in several marketing roles at Lascad, Garnier and L’Oréal. He then took over as General Manager of Garnier Europe. He was subsequently appointed President of Maybelline New York in 2006, before taking on the same post at L’Oréal Paris in 2010.

Pierre-Emmanuel Angeloglou too has been loyal to L'Oréal, which he joined in 1996. He was General Manager of L’Oréal's Consumer Products Division North Asia since 2013, having worked in the same role in Brazil for four years. He began his career as skincare product manager at L'Oréal Paris in Italy, and he then rose through the ranks, notably moving up from Marketing Director to General Manager at Lascad.

Under Cyril Chapuy's presidency, L’Oréal Paris has gone the digital route, launching several apps, establishing partnerships with bloggers, and recently became sponsor of the Paris Fashion Week. After opening several mono-brand stores throughout the world, last September the French group's leading brand opened its first store in France. The store features an array of apps and connected devices, one of the brand's signature means of attracting the Millennials' generation and gaining its loyalty.
