London Technology Week to showcase fashion tech

Published
Jun 19, 2016

Some of the UK's leading fashion technology designers are being brought together to showcase their work, at a first-of-its-kind fashion technology showcase during London Technology Week.

A holographic mannequin from Headworks

The exhibition was curated by London-based fashion designer Brooke Roberts and commissioned by London & Partners, the Mayor of London's promotional company. It will feature pieces like the world's first holographic intelligent mannequin, from Headworks, and a 3D-printed wearable garment designed by Modeclix.

Brooke Roberts is an ex-NHS Radiographer and knitwear designer and will show digitally knitted fashion from medical scans, while creative communications agency Village has made a series of immersive on-demand 360 degree video content of their work during London Fashion Week, among many other works.

The first London Technology Week was held in 2014, and the latest one attracted 43,000 attendees from around the world.

Brooke Roberts, said: "London offers a collaborative and dynamic science, tech and fashion scene. From fashion start-ups, 3D printing and social media, to improving in-store customer experience, brands in London have been leading the way in how to incorporate the latest tech advances into their fashion message. Being appointed Art Director and Curator of the Fashion Tech Installation to launch London Technology Week has allowed me to bring together a diverse group of fashion and technology game-changers to showcase the creative and robust approach we have in London to contributing to the new wave of Fashion Tech. It is through the continuing collaboration of the London fashion and tech scenes that this crossover has become possible, opening the door for more collaborations on a larger scale in the future, limited only by our imaginations."

London Technology Week takes place on June 20-26.
