Mac reveals new Ellie Goulding collection

Pop star Ellie Goulding's long-awaited makeup collaboration with Mac has finally been unveiled.

The UK star has teamed up with the cosmetics giant on a romantic collection that channels her own free-spirited approach to beauty. Inspired by the "light and dark dichotomy so present in her artwork and as a performer," the collection offers products for both a naturally pretty day vibe, and a glamorous bombshell evening look.

The comprehensive collection spans everything from base tints to false lashes to beauty brushes. Base highlights include the "Root Cream" and "Tint Cream" color bases for various skin tones ($44), and the powder / blush duo "I'll Hold My Breath" ($28).

For eyes that sparkle there are myriad frosted and matte-effect eyeshadows on offer, in romantic shades such as the pearly "Starry Eyed" and the plum-brown "Hanging on", both $44. The "Haute & Naughty Too Black Lash" mascara ($22) will make peepers pop, as will the lashes, which start at $18.

Lips are girly and subtle, with a focus on shimmer, as illustrated by the 'cremesheen' lipsticks "Only You" and "Without Your Love" ($18), which offer mid-coral and seashell pink accents. The "Patentpolish" lip pencils in beige and peach shades ($21) add precision to the look.

In terms of tools, the star has come up with a trio of brushes to help clients get their eyeliner, blusher and blending on point, ranging from $21 to $36.

The range is the latest celebrity collaboration by Mac, which is known for its work with stylish women. The brand is set to release a limited-edition lipstick with burlesque star Dita von Teese later this month, and launched its latest "Viva Glam" lip collection with singer Miley Cyrus in September.

The Ellie Goulding by Mac collection launches on December 17 in select stores and online in the US at maccosmetics.com, with the international release date set for January 2016.
