Macy’s celebrates LGBTQ Pride Month with annual Pride + Joy campaign

Macy’s is celebrating national LGBTQ Pride Month with Pride + Joy, its annual LGBTQ campaign, and a bevy of events, sponsorships and special merchandise.

Pride + Joy highlights Macy’s long-standing commitment to diversity, inclusion and respect. The retailer will host in-store Pride festivities this month, and Macy’s employees and their families and friends will participate in 23 parades across the country.

Also this year, Macy’s will partner once again with The Trevor Project, the national organization that provides crisis-intervention and suicide-prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) young people ages 13 to 24. Macy’s will provide financial support to the organization and will sponsor TrevorLive, the foundation's semi-annual gala in Los Angeles and New York City.

“The Pride + Joy campaign is a true reflection of Macy’s core values where we celebrate diversity and support community partners, such as The Trevor Project, which provides vital services and those that are making strides in the movement for equality,” said William Hawthorne, Macy’s senior vice president of Diversity Strategies and Inclusion.

In addition to the events and sponsorships, Macy’s and Levi’s launched the Levi’s x Pride Collection, which took inspiration from the AIDS Memorial Quilt to honor those affected, fight stigma and help organizations that stand up for equality, and Proposition Love jewelry on the Macy’s website. The jewelry brand donates 10 percent of profits to organizations that benefit the following Marriage Equality, Gay Rights, LGBT Youth, Anti-Bullying, and HIV/AIDS activism.

Hawthorne added, “Macy's is committed to supporting the LGBTQ community and promoting an inclusive environment for our employees and customers during National Pride Month, and all year-round.”
