In December, Mango announced it would be its first launching a line of children’s wear called Mango Kids. The line will be available online from July and will hit stores a month later in August.
Catering for children aged 3 to 12, Mango Kids will offer a selection of trendy and classic pieces for both boys and girls. According to Spanish press agency Europa Press, the retailer will be adapting some of its best-selling women’s pieces and making them child-friendly. The Spanish retailer is looking to add accessories, underwear and footwear at a later date. Mango has made a long-term investment with its children’s line, hiring in-house designers and establishing a specialized buying team.
In floor spaces measuring between 70 and 150 square meters, Mango Kids will be rolled-out into 150 Mango stores in 31 countries including France, Spain, Germany and Russia.
The clothing retailer began life in women’s ready-to-wear before branching out to include accessories and menswear. 2014 will see further expansion to Mango’s lines with the introduction of plus-size clothing and a line for teens.
Mango reported turnover of 1.7 billion euros in 2012, an increase of 20% on the previous year.
