Marc Jacobs to be honoured by Parsons

Published

American fashion designer Marc Jacobs' design career began at the Parsons School of Design in the Eighties. This was where he first created his oversize hand-knitted sweaters, nearly a decade before the famous grunge collection that led to his dismissal from Perry Ellis.

Since then, Jacobs has climbed the fashion ladder to become one of the world's best-known designers and a member of the CFDA Board. Parsons is now set to honour its former student at its annual fashion benefit in May.

"Marc represents the best of a Parsons education," Joel Towers, Parsons; executive dean of Parsons School of Design at The New School. "He brings creativity and cultural insight to his influential designs."

Marc Jacobs has won 10 CFDA awards and designs the Marc Jacobs, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Little Marc and Bookmarc lines.

Finally, although it hasn't been officially confirmed, a logical deduction reveals that Marc Jacobs is to close New York Fashion Week next Thursday.

The designer seems to be having a great start to the year!
