Menswear gets colorful at Pitti Immagine Uomo 88

On the back of London Collections: Men comes Pitti Immagine Uomo 88, the international men's fashion trade show currently causing a stir in Florence.

This summer's Pitti Uomo will present the trends for Spring / Summer 2016, with guest designers Moschino and Thomas Tait present. Moschino will present the brand's first men's runway show since Jeremy Scott took over as creative director, while Tait will also put on a special event Wednesday evening.

New sections this year include "Open", which goes beyond gender distinctions to dictate a precise kind of style, and "Unconventional", showcasing the most vibrant voices in the area of luxury underground style. For the first time ever this year, the women's collections will no longer appear under a separate gender sign but will be distributed around the fair according to styling criteria.

The vibrant theme for this year's show is "That's Pitticolour!" Agostino Poletto, Deputy General Manager of Pitti Immagine, explains: "It will be about color and colors, the colors we are steeped in, the colors that surround us, the colors that we wear, that are inside us and in front of our eyes. The language of color is also one of fashion's basic 'codes' and once again it will lead us into a full-immersion course, a plunge, into new looks and lifestyles."

Additional highlights at the show include the relaunch of "Chucs," the brand founded by Fifties Hollywood star Peter Finch and inspired by the lifestyle of icons like Robert Kennedy and Steve McQueen. WP Store, the retail arm of brand group, distributor and retailer WP Lavori, is celebrating its three decades with the preview launch of the 30th anniversary BlueBlack Collection featuring 20 limited edition items made in cooperation with brands such as Woolrich, Barbour and Nanamica, while Saks Fifth Avenue will be promoting Italian style with a special project in cooperation with the New York offices of the ICE Italian Trade Agency.

Pitti Immagine Uomo 88 runs through June 9.
