Mert & Marcus get first major solo show in London

Mert & Marcus, the iconic photography duo, are being celebrated with their first-ever major solo show this October.

This year is their 20th anniversary and the photographers, who met on the London club scene in 1994, have selected 18 works – 9 black-and-white and 9 colour – to be made available for sale for the first time. They will be on display at Phillips' London headquarters in Mayfair on October 24 - November 3 for the exhibition "Mert & Marcus: Works 2001-2014", in collaboration with Art Partner.

Mert & Marcus said: “Phillips’ commitment to presenting and promoting fashion photography as contemporary art made them the perfect platform for our first retrospective. We are thrilled to celebrate 20 years of working together with this exhibition.”

After London, the exhibition will move on to Phillips’ Gallery in Saint Germain, Paris, from 9 to 16 November 2016, alongside the international art fair Paris Photo.

In recent years, we have seen a notable increase in recognition and demand for fashion photography and this partnership allows us to present collectors with the first opportunity to acquire works by Mert & Marcus, two of the most influential artists working in this sphere."

Prices for the works begin at £16,000, and each will be available in an edition of 5.
