Mountain Equipment Co-op announces new Montreal location

Published
Feb 5, 2016

Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC), a Vancouver-based outdoor retailer, announced last week that they will open their fifth location in the province of Quebec. The 23,600 square foot store will open this fall next to Carrefour Laval, Montreal’s most productive mall.

MEC’s Financial Director, Sandy Treagus says the population base of over 400 000 people in Laval and its proximity to the Lanaudière and the Laurentians, an outdoor destination, made Laval an obvious choice for the new location.

The store will carry a vast number of products and brands such as Oakley, Nau, Helly Hansen and Nike as well as a full-service equipment rental and bike shop. The new store will also offer training workshops on subjects like family camping.

Laval will be MEC's 19th Canadian store. New locations are also planned for Toronto, Edmonton and Kelowna within the next couple of years.
